Victoria’s Secret ads toned down at Gilbert mall

Instead, new, toned-down versions of Victorias Secrets annual national campaign focus from the belly up and on the smiling faces of models. Taken down are signs that displayed models long legs and panties. One photo of two models in their bras remains. But most others focus on faces, and in the place of some images are gray signs that say, Here come the angels. I think it looks a lot better, said Vicki Parry, a Gilbert resident who was among more than a dozen who wrote letters and called town officials and Westcor, which owns the shopping center, asking them to change what they considered soft porn. SanTan Village property manager Sheila Hunter said Limited Brands, the owner of Victorias Secret, used some different images that were taken as part of the same campaign to tone down the advertisements in the mall .

VOTE: What do you think of Warrington?

From Cinema to bowling to watching TV to reading a book to playing on the Xbox. Yes, you could even go out for a meal or a drink but there is no need to 'get leathered'. What is wrong with these people? Drink should be twice as expensive, the legal age should be increased, the police should issue more on the spot fines. If you want to 'get leathered', do it at home where it doesn't affect anyone else, otherwise, go into town & have a good night out. .

No safe harbor for RapidShare in copyright infringement case

But the court disagreed, saying that the site must take responsibility for copyright infringement, even when the material in question was uploaded by its members. "This decision marks a milestone in the fight against illegal usage of our repertoire," said GEMA CEO Dr. Harald Heker in a statement. "It sends out a clear signal that any services, which derive financial benefit from unlawful uses of our works, will have to take extensive measures to protect the rights owners and cannot simply evade liability by referring to the action of individual users. With this landmark decision, the way has been paved for instituting proceedings against other similar services."

Had this involved a US court, the outcome would have been different. In the US, web site operators can (and do) argue that the Safe Harbor provision in the DMCA protects them from liability as long as they remove infringing content after being presented with a takedown notice.

ShopRite turns to smart carts for customer loyalty, targeted ads

ShopRite grocery stores have teamed up with MediaCart Holdings Inc. and Microsoft to deploy “smart," ad-serving shopping carts.

“ShopRite has always been one of the players to look at technology and be an early adopter, so when this came along we were asked to partner to test it and to see if it had any merit," said Karen Meleta, spokesperson for ShopRite. “And we see the opportunity, the benefit to consumers and the benefit to us. Driving the consumer benefit is always key, and some of the early results pointed to the idea that consumers enjoyed it."

The carts were first rolled out for testing in two New Jersey ShopRites in Spring 2007. These early models featured a console that helped shoppers find, scan and pay for products in the store.

When the carts were returned to MediaCart in October of that year, customer data and feedback provided the impetus to add on-board digital advertising.

Beach narrows its list of potential Dome developers

City leaders are short-listing three developers who want a chance to turn the long-vacant Dome site into an entertainment district two blocks from the beach.

Representatives from the three companies will be interviewed in the next month. One company could then be chosen for six months of exclusive negotiations with the Virginia Beach Development Authority.

"We’re going to bring those guys in as soon as we can to ask them more questions," said Steve Herbert, the city’s chief development officer. "Their concept of development, their experience … their thoughts of Virginia Beach."

The chosen developers are:

- A partnership of Armada Hoffler, Bruce Smith Enterprise and The Cordish Co . Armada Hoffler is the company that built Virginia Beach’s Town Center and has worked before with Bruce Smith, a former NFL star turned developer.

Production notes

Motion pictures have a long, well-regarded tradition of highlighting scary/haunted houses - from the Gothic mansion in Psycho to Boo Radley's eerie shack in To Kill a Mockingbird to the out-of-place suburban residence that housed Edward Scissorhands - and exploring kids' fascination with these forbidding structures and their strange inhabitants. Given the genre's enduring appeal, it's no surprise that executives at Robert Zemeckis' production company ImageMovers were immediately intrigued when writers Dan Harmon & Rob Schrab pitched their idea about a house that is alive.

"From the moment it went into development at ImageMovers," says Zemeckis. "I thought it was an extremely clever and totally cool idea."

Adds producer Steve Starkey: "This was something unique, family-friendly with a fresh, contemporary attitude.
