Trial date set in baby's death at Bellarmine

Prosecutors are still waiting for the final medical examiners report to be completed.
After the birth, McCoy is accused of putting the infant in a garbage bag and taking her to a trash room down the hall.

Thats where McCoys roommate discovered the body and called police.

Once police were called, McCoy allegedly got the body from the trash room and put the infant in a gym bag in her room and continued to deny there was a baby when police and EMS workers arrived, according to court records.

Butler said today that McCoy, who is living with her parents, was doing as well as can be expected. This has not been an easy experience for her.

New storm prompts forced evacuation in Bicol

Local government units have started forcibly evacuating thousands of residents living near mountain slopes and coastal areas in the Bicol Thursday as tropical storm Mina (international codename Mitag) threated to directly hit the region.

Dr. Anthony Golez, deputy administrator of the National Disaster Coordinating Council, said Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro advised local government units to forcibly evacuate residents whose lives may be in danger once the storm makes landfall.

Golez said that in Albay province alone, there are at least 40,000 people living near mountain slopes and coastal areas.

He said that the local government will slowly evacuate the residents and bring them to gymnasiums or school compounds.

He added that local government units have been advised to suspend school classes if necessary.

Finneran lobbying is surprise to WRKO

Clearly this is a conflict and not in the best interest of the stations or its listeners," said Lou Ureneck, chairman of Boston University's department of journalism.

"He has a privileged position as a commentator on a radio station, and he has a responsibility to operate at a higher level, without financial conflicts," Ureneck said. "Is he going to begin each broadcast by recruiting a long list of clients and conflicts? This is a bad deal all around for listeners."

Finneran could not be reached yesterday for comment.

The Globe reported yesterday that the State Police Association of Massachusetts decided last week to hire Finneran and his former law partner, James E. Byrne, to lobby for the group's interests on Beacon Hill. Finneran, who bid for the police union work, said he also expects to represent other clients, including the Liquor Liability Joint Underwriters Association, a little-known Bay State insurance group.

Time running out, admits Megson

GARY Megson has admitted that that he was running out of time to sign a striker after failing in his ambitious bid to bring Eidur Gudjohnsen back to the Reebok.

The Wanderers boss had hoped to prise the 29-year-old Iceland international away from Spanish giants Barcelona in a loan deal, but the player, pictured, insists he is staying in Spain, at least until the end of the season.

That left Megson desperately scouring the markets for forward players who would go some way towards filling the void left by the sale of Nicolas Anelka to Chelsea. But, with the transfer window closing at midnight on Thursday, he admitted it was a tall order.

"We were never going to get a straightforward replacement for Nic," he said. "But we are looking to get another forward into the football club.
