| Dell plans to close mall kiosks in U.S., keeping focus on stores
DALLAS — Dell Inc., which has been pushing its computers into more retail stores, said Wednesday it will close its 140 shopping mall kiosks in the United States. Dell now sells computers and other devices in more than 10,000 stores around the world, including Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Best Buy Co. The kiosks, where customers could place orders for delivery, may be losing some of their novelty. Tony Weiss, the vice president of Dell's global consumer business, said closing the kiosks "fits in with how our broad global retail strategy is evolving." Dell began opening the kiosks in 2002 to boost sales of notebook computers, which didn't fit as well within the company's practice of selling directly to customers over the Internet and by phone. More than other customers, people considering notebooks wanted to see and feel the machines before buying them.
Westcor fun parallels Super Bowl
A giant football helmet built of canned food is one of the attractions Valley shoppers can expect to see in Westcor shopping malls on Super Bowl weekend. The retail developer has released a list of events it will host to coincide with Super Bowl XLII in Glendale. Many of the events will be in Glendale, the game's host city, at Arrowhead Towne Center near Loop 101 and Bell Road. Other events such as a National Football League wives' fashion show, personalized chauffeur-driven shopping tours and NFL player appearances will take place across the Valley. Today at Arrowhead, Bertrand Berry of the Arizona Cardinals will make an appearance at the Sprint Store. On Feb. 1, another NFL player will appear at the same location. .

Britney Spears
Britney Spears' pal/manager/leech Sam Lufti called into The View today and spoke to Barbara Walters. He told Barbara that Britney is in treatment and has been suffering from mood swings. Sam also revealed Britney has reconciled with her mother, according to People: When those at the table challenged the veracity of Lutfi's report, Walters's response was, "I don't know if anybody is telling the truth or not telling the truth." But she noted, "He has been with her constantly. He seems to be enormously supportive." All of this is pretty convenient considering Page Six ran an article today about Sam's three restraining orders out against him. One of them is from his former best friend Danny Haines who claims Sam was “more jealous than a lover": When Haines eventually cut him off, Lufti humiliated him, e-mailing naked photos of him to his family, friends and co-workers.
