Police swooped on several other hospitals and residences in the capital's suburbs where they said more than 500 illegal kidney transplants had been performed in the past decade.
A doctor and several middlemen were arrested and police are still looking for the suspected mastermind of the network of medical workers and touts.
Mohammed Salim, 35, who was found at the same hospital as Ahmed, said he was unaware of the looming danger when one such tout offered him construction work along with accommodation.
Like Ahmed, he said he was brought by bus to New Delhi from neighbouring Uttar Pradesh state and taken by car to a house in a forested area after which he was shifted to another house where his blood swab was taken.

Fresh fruit is blended in or drizzled on top. A handful of entrepreneurs are in the process of offering the fresh treat just as big companies are set to debut at area shopping centers. As the Hispanic-heavy votes in Florida, California, Arizona, and New Mexico approach, Bill Richardson is suddenly the most popular guy around. People forget someone like Sam Jones sat on the bench for the first 3 or 4 years in the league. If the debate proves anything it is that a coach who has total control over personnel decisions usually comes out on top. And, on the contrary, I believe it is easier to get the best out of college players than pros with multiyear contracts, free agency, endorsements, etc. Get benched in college and the player kisses goodbye to a first round selection. In the pros, it probably brings a long list of trade offers.
