Grosse Pointe choir director yelled at practice, coach testifies

A hearing was held Jan. 18 and Judge Carole Youngblood is expected to hand down her opinion in that case in about a week.

Michigan law says the state Department of Education must review the certificate of any teacher convicted of certain offenses such as assault or a sexual offense. The department's initial ruling, which Bowen is appealing, included a six-month suspension of her teaching license and requirements that she take anger management classes and send her performance evaluations to the MDE, among other conditions.

Ward will make a recommendation on Bowen's appeal, but state Superintendent Mike Flanigan will have the final say in the matter. A ruling is expected this spring.

Ciccodicola called several parents and educators to testify on Bowen's behalf as character witnesses.

On Oct. 29, Jerry Seinfeld riffed on the situation on "Late Show With David Letterman."

He continued, "We're sorry that she is angry and hysterical, and because she's a three-name woman, which is what concerns me. She has three names. And if you read history, many of the three-name people do become assassins. Mark David Chapman and James Earl Ray."

On Jan. 7, Lapine filed suit against Jessica and Jerry Seinfeld.

"Jessica Seinfeld's blatant plagiarism of Lapine's book constitutes copyright and trademark infringement under federal and New York law.

Following the November election, Stephen Conroy took over from Helen Coonan in the communications hotseat albeit with a different name -- in came Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, out went Coonan's old title of Minister for Communications, IT and the Arts.

Broken Toy Helicopters

Families are reporting that they ended up with defective toys they bought at holiday kiosks inside shopping malls.

What looked like a great gift turned out to be a piece of junk ....that didn't even last into the new year.

Shannon Long showed me two toy helicopters that broke Christmas day...leaving her young son broken hearted.

She paid almost $75 dollars for the toys from a seasonal mall kiosk at the Florence Mall in Northern Kentucky.

She explains "The gentleman told me there was lifetime warranty on the helicopters. If we had any problem we could come back in."

The Problem

But Shannon says her son got just a few minutes of flying time...before the remote control broke on one chopper, and the blade snapped on the other.

Minneapolis/Mall of America

MINNEAPOLIS—This isn't a tale of two cities. Not exactly. It's not even a tale of Twin Cities, which will probably miff St. Paul—but, St. Paul, we'll make it up to you someday.

This is about Minneapolis and The Mall of America.

Minneapolis has 30 live theater venues, including two that have won Tonys: the Guthrie Theater and the Children's Theatre Company.
